SARASOTA COUNTY - Add OndadeMar, a South American swimwear company, to the bevy of stores arriving at the $315 million Mall at University Town Center.
The Colombian company says it was founded 13 years ago as a “luxury swimwear brand, and has expanded its product portfolio to satisfy a woman’s complete need for luxury, resort lifestyle products.”
It was acquired in 2006 by Tribeca Partners, described as the “largest and most active private equity fund in Colombia,” on OndadeMar’s website.
The company already has Florida stores in both Miami and Miami Beach.
It has its largest presence in Latin America, including Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. OndadeMar also has a store in the Dominican Republic.
Other brands that will debut their first stores in Southwest Florida at the $315 million mall being developed by Michigan-based Taubman Centers and Manatee County’s Benderson Development include Apple, Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel and H&M.
